Horse Training

Rebounding Sporthorses offers correct, thoughtful training and consignment board for sport horses, young horses, green horses, restart projects, difficult horses, and horses preparing for the hunter, jumper, eventing, equitation, or foxhunting field. Our program is built around developing each horse from the ground up, with a strong emphasis on correct basics, confidence, rideability, trust, and long term success.

We require a minimum 60 day commitment for all training and consignment horses. This gives each horse the time needed to settle in, understand the program, build strength, and progress without being rushed. Horses are developed at a pace that is appropriate for them mentally and physically, with correctness always taking priority over speed.

Kelly Anne Taplin specializes in difficult horses, restart projects, and horses that have been misunderstood or written off by other programs. Her approach is patient, fair, and foundation focused, with the goal of identifying the root of the issue, rebuilding confidence, and creating horses that are safer, more willing, and more educated.

Kelly has been a working student for multiple five star eventers and hunter jumper trainers, has worked for several foxhunts, and has learned from several students of Olympic gold medalist Joe Fargis. Her background across eventing, hunters, jumpers, foxhunting, young horses, OTTBs, and problem horses has shaped a program that values correct flatwork, clear communication, thoughtful horsemanship, and practical, useful training.

Training may include groundwork, manners, lunging, desensitization, correct flatwork, conditioning, hacking, pole work, jumping development, trailering manners, show preparation, foxhunting preparation, and sales preparation depending on the individual horse. For consignment horses, we focus on honest, professional representation through consistent training, quality photos and videos, clear marketing, and careful matching with suitable buyers.

All horses must be physically cleared before entering the training program. We believe many training issues can be influenced by pain, weakness, poor saddle fit, dental issues, lameness, ulcers, or other physical limitations, so horses must be appropriate for the work being asked of them before training begins.

At Rebounding Sporthorses, horses are not rushed. They are started correctly, developed thoughtfully, and given the time they need to become confident, useful, well educated partners with the foundation to succeed long after they leave our program.
